# .CH Domain registrant data verification

.CH domain registrant data verification is part of the registration process, as .CH and .LI domain names are managed by SWITCH, the official domain registry for Switzerland and Liechtenstein.

To improve security and reduce fraud, phishing, and malware abuse, SWITCH may verify the identity and contact details of domain holders at any time — both during registration and while the domain is active.

### SWITCH accurate registrant information is required

When registering a .CH or .LI domain, all registrant details must be accurate, complete, and up to date for the entire lifetime of the domain.

Required information includes:

- Full legal name of the registrant or company
- Valid postal address
- Active email address
- Functional phone number

If any information becomes outdated, it must be updated promptly through your [SpeedZone account](https://auth.my.zone.fi/?_locale=en).

### SWITCH verification requests

SWITCH may request identity verification in certain situations, including:

- New registrations flagged for additional review
- Suspicious or potentially fraudulent registrations
- Domains connected to phishing, malware, or abuse investigations
- Cases where registrant information appears inaccurate or incomplete

Verification requests are usually sent by email. It is important that the registrant email address remains active and monitored.

### Temporary activation hold

Some newly registered .CH domains may enter a “Temporary activation hold” status.

This means:

- The domain is registered successfully
- The domain is temporarily not activated in DNS
- The website and email services will not work yet
- SWITCH may request additional verification documents

The registrant has up to 30 days to complete the verification process.

**NB!** .CH domain registrant data verification must be completed by the deadline, as failure to do so may result in the permanent deletion of the domain without compensation.

### Abuse prevention and temporary blocking

If an active domain is suspected of phishing, malware distribution, spam, or other abusive activity, SWITCH may temporarily block the domain.

This may include:

- Temporary removal from the DNS zone
- Website and email interruption
- Additional identity verification requirements

After reactivation, the registrant may have 10 days to complete verification. Failure to comply can result in permanent domain deletion without refund.

### Important recommendations

To avoid service interruptions or domain deletion:

- Always use real and verifiable registrant information
- Keep your email address up to date
- Respond quickly to verification requests
- Regularly review your domain contact details in your Zone account
